CPA Lorne Conference

The CPA Victorian Public Practice Retreat is held annually in May in the coastal town of Lorne. This year, it had a record attendance of over 290 people. Notable attendees included Brent Szalay, who hosted talks, Stacey Zuluaga, the chair of the CPA Victoria Public Practice Committee, and Dr. Marli Watt, who delivered the final keynote.

The 3-day retreat began with Brent’s Masterclass on Business Planning for the Future. Keynote presentations included the ATO & The Future of tax, presented by the Deputy Commissioner of Small Business at the ATO, discussing how businesses can adapt to the future tax system. Annaliese McDowell covered Cybercrime, including a live demonstration on utilizing AI technology like Chat GPT in businesses. Dr. Marli concluded the retreat with an in-depth presentation on adopting a winning mindset.

Attending events like this is highly beneficial for the SEIVA team as we gain valuable insights and have the opportunity to meet industry leaders.
